there are a lot of great houses and mansions in the US of A which are open to visit. I will just name a few here: Use the internet searches or go to a good travel agent for other great places to go..also review "Architectural Digest" magazines (and ones like it).. I live in CA (USA) and you must see "The Winchester Mystery House" and a previous post suggesting "The Hearst Castle" was an excellent suggestion..however, be prepared to spend several hours on the tours..they take a long time to walk all those stairs and across the grounds.
